The Chewelah Valley Lions Club schedules its Pub Crawl and 50/50 Poker event for Saturday, April 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. Co-chair Becky Washington highlighted the repeat due to last year's enjoyment, where attendees support Lions services through participation. Funds from such local gatherings directly finance vision and hearing aid for community members.
Event Format and Ticket Details
Six venues host the crawl: Sportsman’s Bar & Grill, Fired Up Pizza, Oasis Tavern, The General Store, American Legion Hall, and Quartzite Brew Pub. Tickets, priced at $10 each, grant a scorecard and are available at these spots ahead of time or on the night. Participants may buy additional scorecards for $10 apiece to boost chances, with no limit on extras, as Washington explained.
Poker Play and Prize Structure
Co-chair Lori Gibbs described seated dealers at each pub ready to deal five-card hands per scorecard. After visiting all locations, entrants submit hands at Fired Up Pizza, where officials announce the winner around 8:15 p.m. That individual claims 50 percent of ticket proceeds, turning friendly competition into tangible community gain.
Funds Fuel Essential Local Services
Lions Clubs International, active since 1917, prioritizes sight conservation and hearing care worldwide, a mission this chapter advances locally. Proceeds here cover school screenings, glasses and hearing aids for those in need, scholarships, and further aid. These events sustain such work when grants fall short, strengthening small-town support networks through resident involvement.
Invitation to Prospective Members
The club seeks new members eager for service and fellowship. Meetings occur at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays monthly—excluding July and August—at the American Legion Hall. Interested parties should attend or contact Becky Washington at (509) 990-7860 for a brochure and details.
