Broncos eye veteran Rodgers amid free agency
The Denver Broncos are considering Aaron Rodgers for their quarterback room, according to a report. The four-time NFL MVP, who signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers last offseason, enters free agency at age 42. Rodgers has not ruled out playing in 2026, while the Steelers await his decision.
The NFL's new league year began last week, with the draft approaching. Broncos coach Sean Payton, seeking a Super Bowl win with a second franchise, views Rodgers as a potential one-year addition. Rodgers has not visited Denver this offseason.
Rodgers started 16 games for Pittsburgh last season, throwing 24 touchdowns and helping end a five-year AFC North title drought. The Steelers lost to the Houston Texans in the wild-card round. Their 2026 quarterback group includes Will Howard and Mason Rudolph.
Bo Nix led Denver's quarterbacks over the past two seasons but suffered an ankle injury during the AFC divisional playoff victory over the Buffalo Bills. Jarrett Stidham started the AFC championship loss to the New England Patriots. Nix rehabs with no firm return timetable, though clearance by training camp remains possible.
